Phillip East Memorial Music Scholarship
The Franklin, KY Music Festival Committee has established the Phillip East Memorial Music Scholarship. Phillip East passed away from terminal cancer in January 2006 and is the father of Kimberly Williams of Williams & Clark Expedition. Phillip wrote over 600 songs and a novel during his lifetime and also played guitar. He was a huge supporter of the Franklin, KY Music Festival and a personal friend of each committee member.
The scholarship will be awarded each year during the festival and the recipient of the first scholarship was Jeffrey East, Phillip's youngest son. Jeffrey is a music student at Western KY University and just signed a publishing deal with Harley Allen Music.
